We've had a lot of wet weather this winter. This was the end of another showery day.

A day later than predicted.

Snow? What snow?

The forecast said I'd have heavy snow today. Seems it's gone elsewhere. Only a few short showers. It is cold though.

Dark pink

Although it was a gloomy afternoon, the clouds were tinted pink by the setting sun today.

Mist and moon

It was foggy this morning. There'll be more tonight, so it'll probably be misty tomorrow morning. Pale sunlight looking across the misty fields this afternoon, and a clear sky at moonrise.

Dusk

The end of a quiet day. A layer of stratocumulus reflects the setting sun. A few wisps of cumulus fractus provide some contrast.

Brief burst of colour

It's been a wet grey day. I just happened to open the back door at tea-time to let a cat out, when I saw this. It disappeared soon afterwards.

A Gormley in The Mersey

During a brief visit to Liverpool for a family funeral we thought we'd take a look at the Gormleys on Crosby shore. Unfortunately the tide was in, so all we could see was one head, poking above the sea. It was bitterly cold and we had to head home, so we didn't wait for the tide to recede. Maybe next time? Anyway, this was the view across The Mersey, with a hint of colour over The Wirral in the distance, soon after noon. I don't know who the hooded figure was but they must have been as cold as we were.

Towards the end of a sunny day, the sky overhead was filled with fluffy altocumulus floccus.

Dull day

Some cold wet weather prompted comments on social media. It can't be sunny every day though, can it?

We could have some very cold weather over the next month or so. Keep warm, and maybe give a little to help those who are likely to be very cold, such as through No Second Night Out in London or other organisations for rough sleepers in your area.

Changeable skies

Panorama to the east at about 4.20pm.

An altocumulus cumulogenitus that developed to the east, late in the day. The top of the cloud flattened out due to temperature inversion in the upper atmosphere. Though not as big or powerful as a a cumulonimbus cloud, it's still pretty big. I watched a plane fly underneath it.
