Snow

A day later than predicted.

Snowy spring

Three days after the spring equinox and almost British Summer Time, yet we've had more snow. Twitter was full of grumbles about the disruption of travel plans and cancelled social activities, but the worst casualties were the young man who died last night after trying to walk home from the pub in the cold, and the farmers who can't get to hungry livestock that haven't been fed for days.

But it looks pretty.

Some big cumulonimbus clouds passed overhead, shedding snow, sleet and hail-like lumps. Changeable afternoon. One minute bright sunshine, the next deep gloom.

A friend said that the edge of this cloud at the bottom, the dark bit, looks like a man trying to kiss the telegraph pole.

More snow forecast

The temperature had crept up a bit earlier in the day but by the time this was taken (late afternoon) it was down to just under 0° again.

Snow

To hear the news, you'd think we'd never had snow before. This is what it looked like late afternoon today - complete cloud cover, and starting to get misty.

New Year snow

The cumulus congestus was about 20-25 miles away, towards the coast. It grew into a distinctive elongated anvil shape later, when the light wasn't good enough to get a decent image.

Spring snow

It snowed this morning. Didn't last.

Easter snow

Easter Sunday morning, and it snowed. Later, the clouds rolled back.
