Boring blue sky

No clouds today - not one! I've included the sun and some vegetation in this photo, or it would be just a blue square.

The Cloud Appreciation Society's manifesto includes the words,
We pledge to fight ‘blue-sky thinking’ wherever we find it. Life would be dull if we had to look up at cloudless monotony day after day.

I'm hoping for some clouds tomorrow, even if only a few little ones. And some rain. It hasn't rained for days. The garden is parched.

Sunny interval

Taken soon after noon, when there were lots of cumulus clouds coming and going. Soon afterwards, they hid the sun.

Late sunrise

I don't often see the sunrise these days but this was late, as it's almost the shortest day. It had been raining overnight, hence drops of water on the window. The stratocumulus was clearing as things warmed up.

Brightness

Some billowy cumulus clouds below a thin layer of cirrostratus this morning, creating a hazy effect. This was taken through a window, as you can see.

Misty sun

It was overcast and misty as the sun set.

Sunshine and shadow

The sun played hide and seek all afternoon. There seemed to be a pinkish tint on some clouds - an optical illusion, though not as dramatic as the iridescence I photographed in July 2008.

Sun, setting

A quick blaze before it retires. Almost cloudless, apart from a few contrails and scraps of stratocumulus.

About 10.45am, with the sun shining through a layer of altocumulus stratiformis. You can just make out a sundog (circled) and some colour to the top left of the sun, part of a halo.

Grey day

The sun behind a layer of stratus.

Sunblock

The sun barely penetrated the clouds this morning. Later it gave up.

Partially hidden sun

The clouds came back today, beginning with fog after a frosty night. The sun shone off and on.

Haze

Shot this just outside the village this morning, when skies were grey in all directions with a hazy light. This was an experiment that didn't work, so I removed all the colour.

Taken near Ipswich this morning, when the sun was forcing its way through a layer of stratus.

Bright and sunny

Clouds speeding by so high winds today.

Can't remember what happened yesterday, cloud-wise. It's all a bit of blur, apart from writing lots of Xmas cards.

As predicted, a fine, dry day - but chilly. Just a few scraps of cumulus in an otherwise clear sky.
