The end of a quiet day. A layer of stratocumulus reflects the setting sun. A few wisps of cumulus fractus provide some contrast.

Wisps

A hot day with mostly clear skies, apart from a few cumulus humilis and even fewer wisps of cumulus fractus, like these, that evaporate within minutes.

Hot and bright

A hot day, even at about 18:45, when these were taken. Streaks of cirrus show that there were high winds at high altitude, while clumps of cumulus mediocris and wisps of cumulus fractus moved more slowly.

The end of a fine day

Fine day, mild temperature. Looks like an early spring again.

Cold afternoon

The end of a chilly day. It was sunny earlier but by 4-ish it struggled to shine through streaks of stratocumulus, with wisps of cumulus fractus in the foreground.

Hiding the moon

As it got dark, the moon shone brightly for a little while, with just a few wisps of cumulus fractus above. Within half an hour or so, a thin layer of stratocumulus covered the sky and partially obscured it for minutes at a time. It's not as cold as last night but the weather forecast is an 80% probability of freezing conditions tonight.

November begins with this

I sat outside for quite a while before sunset, watching lots of cumulus fractus scudding across the sky. It was warm - all I need was a shawl.

Blue sky to the east

Bit unsettled today. Some blue sky to the east in the afternoon. Rain clouds in the west, but I couldn't get a clear shot of them through the trees.

Looking west

Late in the day, looking west, the sky was a jumble of cumuli, moving fast, while in the east the sky was mostly clear.

Bright ball of cloud

Looked across the gardens behind my house and spied this big bright ball of cumulus partly hidden by a sheet of stratocumulus and some cumulus fractus.

Brilliance amid the gloom

After an overcast sort of day, a gap revealed this burst of brightness at about tea-time.

It's been a long cold spring, but this sky promises a change in the weather.

It looked deceptively bright and spring-like today, with bright sunshine and lots of cumulus humilis and fractus about.

Sunshine and snow showers

Some big cumulonimbus clouds passed overhead, shedding snow, sleet and hail-like lumps. Changeable afternoon. One minute bright sunshine, the next deep gloom.

A friend said that the edge of this cloud at the bottom, the dark bit, looks like a man trying to kiss the telegraph pole.
