Pink and blue

Pink-tinted streaks of stratocumulus and contrails at sunset. It's going to be cold tonight - good for star-gazing.

Cloud cap

Changeable weather, as forecast, with sunshine and showers. There was a slight cap, or pileus, on this bright cumulus cloud. It came and went quickly, as they do.

The pileus is the thin veil shown by the arrows.

November begins with this

I sat outside for quite a while before sunset, watching lots of cumulus fractus scudding across the sky. It was warm - all I need was a shawl.

Cirrus morning

It was bright and sunny to begin with, with cirrus clouds that typified their name, chosen by Luke Howard (see right) as they reminded him of hair. Cirrus is from the Latin for "tendril" or "curl". It soon clouded over.

Stormy weather

Thunder clouds overhead. Lots of movement in the sky and wind in the trees. Glad of the rain.

Wrong weather forecast

There was supposed to be a deluge of heavy rain with thunder and lightening today, but we thought we'd risk it and go out. Glad we did.

Blue sky to the east

Bit unsettled today. Some blue sky to the east in the afternoon. Rain clouds in the west, but I couldn't get a clear shot of them through the trees.
